Thanks to Fine Dining, Romance Always in the Air at Friendship Village Tempe

Where’s the best place in the Tempe area for fine dining? If you’re searching, a retirement community might not be on your radar, but chat with any of our residents, and you’re sure to hear a lot of five-star reviews!

Recently, thanks to the talent and brain power of director of culinary Brian Banks, and director of hospitality Bob Mayo, fine dining at Friendship Village Tempe is setting the bar and changing the game across the field of senior living.

“The focus is on fresh, homemade ingredients with an emphasis on farm-to-fork,” said Banks, whose experience includes high-end restaurants in the Boston area. “Working with local farmers has allowed Friendship Village to serve food that’s literally just removed from the farm. The menu offers certified Angus beef, Kurobuta pork and local rack of lamb, among other options.”

From a hospitality standpoint, Mayo says he’s put his experience from the hotel industry to good use.

“Everything from the menus to our fine dining venue has been revamped,” Mayo said. “We’re also working on a partnership with Open Table, a popular reservation app, due to the popularity of the fine dining at Friendship Village.”
